Marriage is intended by God to be a creative relationship, as his blessing enables husband and wife to love and support each other in good times and in bad, and to share in the care and upbringing of children. For Christians, marriage is also an invitation to share life together in the spirit of Jesus Christ. It is based upon a solemn, public and life-long covenant between a man and a woman, declared and celebrated in the presence of God and before witnesses. (from the Marriage Service, Common Worship)
In order to be married in one of our churches, at least one partner should be resident in that parish or have strong connections with it. (Our Rector does not marry divorcees but will allow another minister to conduct a marriage service in church once he has discussed this with the couple). In addition please complete and return the relevant Wedding and Marriage Measure Forms which can be downloaded from this page for the church you wish to be married in.
